‘La vie est une fleur dont l’amour est le miel’ – Victor Hugo
'Life is a flower and love is the honey' proclaimed Victor Hugo - and he was just one of many to wax lyrical about the power of love. French films, literature and art very often feature 'l’amour’ as a central theme, and it's an indisputable fact that the French know how to do it in style. When I was trying to find a good French quote about love, it really wasn’t hard to find one - les français are experts on love, romance and affairs of the heart. It's been well, and beautifully covered over the years - from Verlaine to Desnos and Brel to Gainsbourg.

The French language alone sounds romantic, with its 'Je t'aime' and 'je t'embrasse' that simply roll off the tongue like honey. And then of course you have Paris, considered by many as the ‘city of love’ - although there are without a doubt many other lovely and romantic places to visit in France.

We thought it would be nice to introduce a French soap collection with love as its theme. Flowers are said to represent or symbolise different forms of love, so we carefully chose four soaps to represent love.
The Rose is said to symbolise happiness, and Almond blossom constancy in love and eternal hope. Verbena represents purity, beauty and protection, and Lily of the valley symbolises pure love. But the one thing these all have in common is that they all smell totally divine!
We hope you enjoy this gift collection ‘Ma Provence: Amour’.
