I'm a long standing Francophile, French teacher and academic and the creator of 'Lola et Lulu'.

I have spent many a pleasant afternoon meandering around the bustling markets in Cassis, La Napoule and Nice - sampling the plump olives and the pungent regional cheeses, and purchasing pots of multicoloured geraniums. My favourite buy of  all though has always been the roughly hewn blocks of 'Savon de Marseille' and the beautifully coloured, evocatively scented French market soaps.

I was lucky enough to spend all of my childhood holidays in the south of France and from there studied French at University,  I eventually managed to live and work in the south - firstly in the seaside district of 'Le Mourillon' near Toulon, then the perfumed hills of Grasse and finally the noisy but very lovely city of Nice.  It was my dream and fortunately for me, it came true.

Now, married with children and living in the UK, I have to once again content myself with holiday trips and visits to France. In 2019 'Lola et Lulu' was born - the aim of which is to sell luxury artisan French soap gift collections - and spread the love of all things French soap!
