In France ‘La Fête de Pères’ - Father’s Day - falls on the third Sunday in June, just as it does in the UK.

St Joseph’s Day is thought to be the origin of the modern Father’s Day in France, and this was traditionally celebrated on March 19. St Joseph’s day was more of a religious celebration and in 1952 an official decree was made to recognise fathers and Father’s Day, and the celebration was moved to the 3rd Sunday of June.
For many of us, Father’s Day this year might be somewhat different to usual – even with the easing of the tighter controls of lockdown. Nonetheless, we will still be able to celebrate and thank our dads and father figures with cards and gifts and make them feel special, even at a distance.
